Porn industry is distributing pornography with abandon. Because it now has the technological means to do deliver porn anywhere, it believes that it will continue to see ever increasing operational profits. Paradoxically, such irresponsible distribution of pornography will eventually backfire as sales begin to decline.
Pornographic merchants can look for guidance from the marketing efforts of a related industry: alcohol production and distribution. Sellers of alcohol understand that the best customers are the ones that stay alive. This industry also produces huge quantities of its products and it would also like for its target market to consume all of what seems to be an unlimited capacity.
However, it is wise enough to see and learn from the statistics of excessive consumption. The stats clearly show that too much alcohol on a chronic basis results in death; death from medical consequences or impaired driving accidents.
Obviously the industry is loosing clients. And so it now promotes responsible drinking as part of its advertising campaigns. It’s not doing this out of the goodness of its heart, but because it wants its customer base to stay alive.
Pornography industry should take heed of this tactic, because pornography also kills. Death in this case is psychological. Unbridled, massive consumption of porn - for which pornography industry hopes, leads to eventual psychological numbness.
People that consume large amounts of pornography on a chronic basis, eventually stop being affected by it. They burn out. Result for porn industry: loss of customers and revenues.
Therefore it is in the interest of pornography industry to promote responsible consumption of its products. Just like too much alcohol, too much porn leads to adverse consequences for the consumers and the producers of pornography.
